NOTE: Items cut from the thicker chipboard burn easily so the laser-cutting process may leave charcoal residue behind. Save yourself a headache, and just wipe the cut edges of these items down with a dry paper towel before assembling or painting. (Note: the chipboard color may have changed since the photo was taken.)

Description

Inspired by some (inspired) vanities and chests built from matchboxes by Design Team Member Laura Carson, this is a 1:12 scale vanity made to use 6 Diamond brand matchboxes as the drawers (you'll need to buy your own at your local grocery store; the matchboxes measure 1-3/8" x 7/16" x 2-1/16").

This is a laser-cut, heavy chipboard flat kit with the slots and tabs precut (you'll just need to secure with a bit of white glue).

Total height is approx. 5-1/2" (by about 3-1/8" wide x 2-1/8" deep). Height from base to tabletop is 2-1/2" (and you can add small box feet if you like).

The top is split to hinge about 1/2" from the back wall (and opens like a vintage school desk) so you can hide items inside and open the lid without running into the fancy mirror frame/detailing on the back.

One of the photos shows using 5mm Drawer Knobs (for scale).

Miz Bella made a Fairy Magic Vanity (see the wide photo below). More info in the blog and/or see the supply list.
